Honeysuckle Serontina Bloodsuckers

Although their name may conjure up images of a Hank Williams ballad about mood-regulating chemicals in the brain, there's nothing remotely country about these Vancouverites. Taking their cues from the likes of Oasis, Jimmy Eat World, Dinosaur Jr. and Weezer, the quintet plays thick, harmonious brand of emo guitar rock that's as fresh as it is captivating. Songs like "Pico and the Beach" and "Bloodsuckers" feature a rock drive and are juxtaposed with moody, building epics like "On You" and "Kismet," and the pseudo Brit pop of "Warm Paradise" to create a well-rounded and highly enjoyable package of music.
