Homeshake, the solo project of Toronto's Peter Sagar, has announced plans for a follow-up to 2019's Helium. Sagar's fifth studio album, Under the Weather, is due on September 10 via Dine Alone Records, and today you can hear its first single "Vacuum."
As the 12-track album's title suggests, the music that makes up Under the Weather was written during a period of "deep, deep depression," and according to Sagar, the bulk of the work was done back in 2019, well before the isolation and despair brought on by the COVID pandemic set in.
"It was a bit of a dark pit," he said in a release. "That's kind of what the whole album is about."
He added: "Oftentimes when you're in a dark place, you're supposed to journal and that helps release the pressure. For me, it always found its way into the music."
In addition to new music, Homeshake has also mapped out an extensive tour of North American, which is set to kick off in early 2022. The trek will find Sagar performing in Calgary, Toronto and Montreal in April of next year, followed by a night in Vancouver in May. The 32-date trek will see support from Salami Rose Joe Louis on select dates. Tickets for the tour are on sale now.
