Holy SHroud

Ghost Repeaters

The buzz surrounding the dissonant melodies and throaty vocals of Halifax’s the Holy Shroud is not entirely unwarranted. While I can’t argue that the songwriting is terribly original, it is completely dance worthy and translates even better live. "Landmarks to Postmarks” is a great upbeat guitar song, while "Say What You Are” showcases the band’s ability to create interesting juxtapositions of singing and screaming. The record definitely closes on a high note, with the hazy guitars and group sing-along of "Curtain Calls.” Fans of Q and Not U and Challenger will not be disappointed.
