Published Sep 08, 2014Earlier this year, Shad and Holy Fuck announced plans to collaborate during a Polaris Music Prize-backed stint at the Banff Centre in Alberta's Rocky Mountains. Now, they've unveiled their Scion Sessions-sponsored 7-inch under the name Holy Shad.
The single includes "The Legend of Cy Borg Pt. 1" and "Pt. 2." Rather bizarrely, Shad explained in an announcement, "The songs are about Cy Borg, the fictional brother of tennis legend, Bjorn Borg. He's kind of a comic book Don Quixote-esque vigilante ex-tennis prodigy reclusive/rugged rapping mountain man/freedom fighter. Who eats dope food." It's described as a "true collaboration" in which Shad and Holy Fuck are equal creative partners.
Below, watch and a 7-and-a-half-minute video about the Holy Shad collaboration. Hear both futuristic-sounding songs over at Polaris' website. These will be pressed in a run of 500 vinyl singles.
