Published Feb 04, 2016Though Brooklyn synth-pop duo Holy Ghost! haven't issued a full-length since 2013's Dynamics, the act are due to drop a more miniaturized release this spring. Their newly announced Crime Cutz EP was announced today (February 4) via a premiere of its title cut.
A press release confirms that the collection touches down April 29 through DFA, while the title track was premiered today through Zane Lowe's Beats 1 program. In addition to work from the core duo of Nick Millhiser and Alex Frankel, the single features assistance from the East Coast Inspirational Singers Choir.
A statement from Millhiser explains that the band didn't have a clear vision of what to do following the release of Dynamics other than make music that is "rhythmically gratifying."
"As a drummer, I get parts that I find to be rhythmically catchy stuck in my head all the time," he said, praising various tracks by Nirvana, Abba and Chic. "So this was an attempt to do something that was sort of rhythm ear candy. Simple. Angular. Funky. Physical. Fun."
A tracklisting to Crime Cutz has yet to materialize, but Holy Ghost! have announced a few global dates, which you'll find below with the stream of their new single and a teaser video. That's the EP's cover up above.
