After delivering their first LP in six years with Congrats last year, Holy Fuck aren't letting up in releasing more music. The band have revealed that a new EP titled Bird Brains will land on July 21 through Last Gang/Innovative Leisure.
As a press release explains, Bird Brains was recorded live at various studios over the past few years to represent "the ongoing creative process of a band whose members live in different cities (in both Canada and the U.S.) yet insist their music should be a collaborative process."
The four-track release was largely self-produced, with outside help coming from Shawn Everett (John Legend, Warpaint, Alabama Shakes), on the track "Chains" and David Wrench (Caribou, FKA twigs, The xx) who mixed the song "New Dang."
Bird Brains is also accompanied by a video for the title track, featuring a bird tasked with hosting a wild dance party. As director Allison Johnston explained in a press release, she wanted "to explore the idea of mass hysteria, and how easily a group will follow the most confident person in the room. The party in the video is what I grew up believing they always were before I had ever been to one. I wanted every party to be Nelly's 'Hot in Herre'."
