Calgary psych pop outfit Holgans have come to an end, of sorts, moving on from the previous iteration of the project that was a collaboration between visual artist/musician Kiarra Albina and multi-instrumentalist Ryan Bourne. Before the project evolves into something new, the original Holgans will issue a new tape fittingly titled Holgans Are Dead.
The six-song release collects music that was conceived and recorded from 2013 to 2015. As a press write-up explains, the EP "hits the psychedelic sweet spot: swirling pop rocks in the nature-drone served lush and spellbound, oozing with serene depth and texture."
Holgans Are Dead will arrive on April 7 via the Calgary label Shaking Box Music. Until then, Exclaim! is happy to premiere the full EP. You can stream it below.
