The Hold Steady's Craig Finn Writing Movie Adaptation for Chuck Klosterman's Fargo Rock City

Apparently, Hold Steady keyboardist Franz Nicolay isn't the only member keeping busy with writing projects. You see, HS front-man Craig Finn has revealed he's working on a film adaptation for Chuck Klosterman's classic memoir of being a teen metalhead in North Dakota, Fargo Rock City.

According to a report from Risky Business [via Stereogum ], Finn has teamed up with David Letterman writer Tom Ruprecht to adapt the film into an '80s teen comedy, with Klosterman on board as producer.

"Seventeen or 18 is the perfect age for characters in a movie like this, because it's at that age that you have drivers licences and a certain amount of independence, but you're still young enough that you can totally make terrible decisions," Finn told Risky Business. "And you're still young enough that you can have a two-hour argument over whether Motley Cruüe would beat Guns 'N Roses in a fight."

While no time frame has been given for the project, Finn and Ruprecht are currently at work on a first draft of the script.
