Whether you're eager to check out a new film, or avoid the June heat in an air-conditioned theatre, there are plenty of on-screen diversions to choose from this weekend. Head over to our Recently Reviewed section to read our critics' takes on all of the latest movies. Here are some of the highlights.

First off, Ridley Scott's futuristic Prometheus (pictured) follows the crew of the titular vessel, which includes Charlize Theron and Noomi Rapace, as they search for life on another planet. Read the review to find out why this sci-fi flick earned an Exclaim! Mark of Excellence this week.

Meanwhile, David Cronenberg's latest offering, Cosmopolis, stars Robert Pattinson as a detached Wall Street trader. Adapted from Don DeLillo's 2003 novel, and also featuring the likes of Paul Giamatti and Jay Baruchel, the film takes a look at concepts of wealth in the modern age.

Next, the animated protagonists of Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted offer some colourful, family-friendly escapism, as they race across a new continent, while Beyond the Black Rainbow, from Canadian director Panos Cosmatos, delivers an eerie, even disturbing representation of a dystopian future (set in 1983).

And finally, two teens set out to get the entire population of their school baked in John Stalberg, Jr.'s stoner comedy High School, which boasts an appearance from Adrien Brody as an aged burnout and comic performances from the boys' incapacitated teachers.
