Hillside, LOLA and Sled Island All Make It onto CBC's Shortlist for the Best Music Festival in Canada

As we told you last week, CBC Radio 3 has announced the station's annual Searchlight contest, this year asking voters to declare the best in Canadian music festivals. This morning, CBC revealed the contest's shortlist, after votes cast by Canadian music fans dwindled the list down to the top 20.

Noticeably absent are the Yukon's Dawson City Music Festival and Victoria's Rifflandia, although demographics aren't to blame. Many festivals in Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto also didn't make the top 20, while folk fans proved the genre is alive and well, voting in Winnipeg and Regina's folk festivals, as well as the Stan Rogers Folk Festival in Canso, NS. Other festival that made it onto the shortlist, which you can view here, include Guelph, ON's Hillside, London, ON's LOLA, Sackville, NB's SappyFest and Calgary's Sled Island.

CBC Radio 3 will broadcast live from the winning festival, wherever that may be. To get in there and vote for the Best Music Festival in Canada, head to CBC Radio 3.
