Hill & the Sky Heroes Announce Debut Album

Hill Kourkoutis has been hovering around the fringes of the Canadian music world for a while now, performing as a backing musician and directing videos (including Mother Mother's quirky "Hayloft" clip). Now, she's getting ready to release her debut album as Hill & the Sky Heroes. Entitled 11:11, it's due out June 12.

The album features a rotating cast of collaborators including some familiar names likes Saidah Baba Talibah, Martha & the Muffins, Serena Ryder, and Damhnait Doyle. It was also produced by Drake/the Weeknd contributor Adrian Eccleston.

Fittingly, 11:11 contains 11 tracks, which a press release describes as ranging from the "wondrous psychedelia of old Hollywood films to the grit and glamour of modern pop/rock and roll." Among the instruments you'll hear on 11:11 are kazoo, theremin, saws and strings.

Kourkoutis said in a statement, "Genres are open and have space to grow, thereʼs room to search for who you are, and have fun while youʼre doing it."

The full-length draws tracks from last year's 11EP, released on November 11 (that is, 11/11/11), including "Doctor, Doctor." Watch a video for that song below.

Hill & the Sky Heroes will celebrate the release of 11:11 with a show at the Drake Underground in Toronto on June 11.
