High Wolf Returns with 'Kairos: Chronos'

BY Gregory AdamsPublished May 6, 2013

Despite a few splits and cassette releases, High Wolf's last LP was 2011's Atlas Nation, though the French psych musician is about to make his full-length return. Come June 4, he'll issue Kairos: Chronos through Not Not Fun.

A press release notes that the upcoming effort is a "gorgeous, tropical-laced psychedelic journey with a transcendental edge" and was built by High Wolf using drums, tripped-out guitar loops and "ever-shifting layers of synths." Apparently the LP acts as a summation of his "half-decade Amazon Cosmos quest," and comes from the experience of travelling the world.

As the label puts it, High Wolf has "hand-rolled his way up Mount Fuji, trainspotted every corner of Europe, hitchhiked across America and Australia, chugged Ganges water, and crouched on all manner of smoke-stained prayer rugs since first looping a bongo back in '09."

You can sample the zoned-out keyboard squelches, manic hand-drum taps and hypnotic guitar melodies of ethereal mind-expander "Kulti" down below.
