High Ends

"Intoxicated" (video)

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Nov 14, 2014

If you already considered Yukon Blonde member Jeffrey Innes' debut as High Ends to be high art, you'll probably be just as "Intoxicated" with the claymation sculptures that fill the video for the Super Class single of the same name.

Directed by Tyler Witzel, the video fits the fuzzed-out synths and vocal harmonies with a series of always-morphing visuals. This includes a series of abstract sculptures rivaling the insanity of the Mouse Trap board game, a roman bust, and what appears to be pastel slice of sentient baloney seeking a body.

Witzel explained of his work: "I had been working on a few designs for large outdoor, public sculptures. I thought animation would feel right for the video and aesthetically I wanted it to have a '70s era National Film Board feel. From that came this idea of a drunken visit to an art gallery where everything kind of looks like the inside of a person's body."
