Ashleigh Ball may be familiar to most as the frontwoman for Hey Ocean!, but she's stepping into the spotlight solo for a new EP. Gold in You marks the singer-songwriter's debut one-woman offering, and it's set to arrive on June 2.
The seven-song record was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Ajay Bhattacharyya (a.k.a. STINT) and marks a dramatic leap from Ball's indie roots, experimenting with more R&B and electronic-leaning influences.
The new songs hear the singer tackling themes like "asynchronous relationships" and navigating "the paradox of wanting two different lives at once" — toying with the juxtaposition of chaos and stability, dreams and reality.
The first listen to Ball's new sound arrives with the lead single "Crazy." It's accompanied by a video that was shot by director Joseph Klymkiw at Vancouver's Pacific Spirit Regional Park, and we've got your first look at the clip.
"This video is meant to be a little look into the life of that inner wild woman who shows up when you least expect and takes over," Ball tells Exclaim! "A glimpse into my imagination and that delicate dance with my crazy side."
