Published Mar 09, 2016The hip-hop world lost an iconic figure with the death of the Notorious B.I.G. 19 years ago today (March 9). In tribute to the hip-hop legend, two producers have answered the question of what Biggie would sound like over today's popular sounds within the genre.
Brooklyn-based MICK and production partner Chi Duly have expertly fused Biggie vocal tracks with instrumentals from top-flight superproducer Metro Boomin to create Ready to Boom. The half-hour-long mix sees the duo match "Juicy" with Kanye West's "Waves," "Come On" with Future's "Where Ya At," and "Everyday Struggle" with Travis Scott's "Skyfall" among many others.
"We thought it would be cool to remix Biggie with a very contemporary vibe and kind of trap him out a little bit," MICK told High Snobiety. "We wanted to introduce him to a new audience so they can appreciate his genius, too."
