Here's What Shotty Horroh Is Listening to on His Cross-Canada Tour

He kicks off the headlining run at NXNE this week

Manchester-bred, Toronto-based spitter Shotty Horroh is days away from embarking on his first headlining tour of Canada, kicking off a 19-date run at Toronto's NXNE on June 13. Ahead of that, the rapper/singer has shared a list of songs that will soundtrack his cross-country trek.

"Most of the songs on this playlist get me and my band mates excited to go on stage as a group," Shotty tells Exclaim! by email. "They put us on the same wavelength so that we can go out and smash the show for the fans."

A quick glance at the 22-track playlist, which can be streamed below, finds new cuts and old favourites from a variety of genres sitting alongside songs from Shotty's 2018 full-length Salt of the Earth, which arrived through Sony Music last October.

A native of the UK, Shotty's playlist features catalogue staples of iconic bands from across the pond, including Joy Division, Liam Gallagher and Oasis

"There's a lot of British music on here because I like to take a piece of my home with me when I'm on the road, like Oasis, Arctic Monkeys and the Stone Roses," he notes. "It's nice to listen to the bands that I like, and wanted to be like when I was younger, while on my own tour and about to walk on stage for my own gig. It's a 'full-circle' kind of feeling."

Of course, Shotty's rock picks are juxtaposed with plenty of rap, including songs by 2Pac, YNW Melly and selections from the burgeoning drill scene back home in the UK.

"UK drill music is an up-and-coming sound right now, and I found a few artists like Unknown T And DIG DAT, that I really like from that scene," he explains. "The sound of the genre is very high-energy and it gets me pumped up before I go on stage."
