Hello Moth kicked off the first evening of SoundOff at Commonwealth Bar & Stage armed with nothing but a Casio VL-1 synthesizer, a loop pedal and his voice to perform his theatrical songs. His music is born of otherworldly sounds and eccentric influences such as Kate Bush and Perfume Genius, and he demonstrated as much as Hello Moth took the audience through a "cross-section" of his discography.

Live, Hello Moth lets the sounds from his synth and loop pedal bound across the stage and into the audience, seeking connection. And yet, his set felt rather disjointed despite its linear order of songs from the beginning to present of his career, his intensity a little too much for the crowd at times. Still, Hello Moth's vocal strength is undeniable, and proved to be the highlight of his enjoyable performance.
