Hellacaust

Disgust

BY Keith CarmanPublished Jan 20, 2009

More amazing metal spewing forth from the pits of the Maritimes, Hellacaust obliterate with this ravenous blast of molten black, thrash and death metal. Reminiscent of Slayer's pre-Reign In Blood work, in terms of production values and passion/aggression, yet closer to the likes of old school Norwegian black metal in sheer sonic bombast, Disgust deserves prominence not only amongst Canada's best in the genre but also on a more universal level. These seven tracks are nothing less than phenomenal, featuring perfect performances, incensed passion and the ability to craft interesting tunes that are dynamic enough to feel progressive while never straying from the intended course. Yet more proof that when it comes to some of the country's greatest music, the East Coast is a wealth of horrifically overlooked talent.
