The Helio Sequence

"October"

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jul 11, 2012

As previously reported, Portland popsmiths the Helio Sequence are delivering Negotiations, their first album of new material in over four years, on September 11 through Sub Pop. We got an idea of what to expect via an album trailer, but now the act have delivered the first full-size song sample, "October."

Despite Negotiations being described as "the loosest, and most free-form [LP] the duo has ever done," the delicate number keeps things relatively straightforward. It builds on a twinkly guitar line, timid and melodious vocals, and a steady backbeat before reaching its Coldplay-esque, soft rock climax.

The Helio Sequence will also be touring the U.S. and Europe this fall, but unfortunately have yet to announce any Canadian dates. You can check out the tour schedule over here.
