Heiress Announce New 7-Inch, Album Plans for 2012

Since 2006, Pacific Northwest troupe Heiress have been cranking out doomy slices of post-metal imbued with a sense of their hardcore heritage (the band are made up of ex-members of Botch, Himsa, Undertow, Jough Dawn Baker and more). Fittingly, the outfit will continue with their heavy-mindedness via a newly announced single and plans to issue a full-length in 2012.

While a release date has yet to be set, label Deathwish Inc. has unveiled the artwork and one of the songs from the upcoming "Naysayer" / "Just Throats" single. While a press release explains that the A-side "falls into a downward spiral of aggressive percussion before plodding forth with a warhorse like pace," the flip, which you can stream and/or download below, finds the quintet tackling a moodier and more melodic piece. Vocalist John Pettibone, mind you, still howls like he was forged from the fires below.

As a side note, the artwork, which you can see above, was done by Demian Johnston, who played with Pettibone in both the jud-jud guitar-chugging Undertow and the slightly more spastic Nineironspitfire. These Heiress boys like to keep things in the family.

Meanwhile, Heiress are also gearing up for the release of their debut album Early Frost on Deathwish Inc. in 2012.
