HEAVY MTL Returns with Kiss, Motörhead, Anthrax, Unveils Toronto Spinoff Featuring Slayer, Rob Zombie

All right, Canadian headbangers, here it is: the event to structure your entire summer around. This July, HEAVY MTL will be returning for its third year to Montreal's Parc Jean Drapeau. Following successful instalments in 2008 and 2010, this year's festival will also include a Toronto edition, fittingly called HEAVY T.O., featuring a who's who of heavy metal icons.

This year's HEAVY MTL will take place across two days from July 23 to 24. The stacked lineup includes Kiss, Motörhead, Disturbed, Godsmack, the Sword, Opeth, Anthrax and Children of Bodom, among others. Go to the festival's official website for more details, including a longer list of performers.

HEAVY T.O. will take place at Downsview Park on the same weekend, and will feature a number of the same performers, such as Motörhead, Anthrax and Children of Bodom. But some bands exclusive to the Toronto edition are Slayer, Rob Zombie, Megadeath Megadeth and Anvil, among others.

According to a press release, "It's time for Toronto's fans of hard and heavy rock to stand up and count to '11' on their amps. If you like your music loud and your T-shirts black, you'll be embarrassed if you're caught anywhere else this summer!"

Tickets for both events go on sale this week. HEAVY T.O. tickets will be available on Friday (March 25) via Ticketmaster, while HEAVY MTL tickets will follow the next day (March 26) via Evenko. They will offer both weekend passes and single-day tickets.
