Prolific Calgary artists Kevin Stebner (of Prepared, Cold Water and Greyscreen) and Micah Stone (of Rap X) have joined forces as Heavy Mountain. Today, Exclaim! is proud to premiere their debut album.
The pair first joined forces in 2015 so that they could cover Bran Van 3000's "Drinking in L.A." at a Halloween party. Since then, their collaboration has taken a different turn.
The 10 songs of Heavy Mountain are built on samples from Canadian folk recordings, all of which create a warm backdrop for some earnest hip-hop lyricism.
