PiL

Metal Box: Reissue

BY Cam LindsayPublished Feb 20, 2007

It only took 27 years, but the time has arrived for the next generation of Public Image Limited fans. Thanks to American indie label 4 Men with Beards, and distributor Forced Exposure (and no thanks to Virgin/EMI, who sat on this for three decades), PiL’s seminal Metal Box is available again in its original format. No more of this Second Edition shit — this post-punk classic is back in an exact replica of the original’s cutting edge packaging: a metal film canister containing three twelve-inch 45s. With the expressed permission of front-man John Lydon himself, we can all finally dance and heckle aimlessly to "Death Disco” the way it was originally meant to be.
