Hear Vancouver Doomsters Seer Soar Sorrowfully on "Seven Stars, Seven Stones"

BY Bradley Zorgdrager Published Jan 10, 2019

Vancouver doom metal band Seer are gearing up to release new music in the form of Vol. 6, but you can jam "Seven Stars, Seven Stones" ahead of the February 8 release here.

The new track plods along with low and slow chugs before a black metal riff replaces the sullen slog with a swifter sorrow. The song goes back and forth, later settling into slightly faster territory, though it's never as bouncy as the quartet's sludgiest material.

Through it all, a sombre mood is inescapable — this is, after all, gloomy doom metal — so that even when Bronson Lee Norton's croon is approaching triumphant there's still a warbling torment in the timbre. There are also some background screeches akin to fellow BC metallers 3 Inches of Blood and, of course, some growls. Eerie sounds see the track out.

Listen to the seven-minute song in the player below and keep an eye out for the release via Toronto's Artoffact Records. The CD version will include Vol. 5 as bonus tracks.
