Published Apr 27, 2016As previously reported, members of the National have been cooking up a massive compilation paying homage to the Grateful Dead, and while there's still a month to go before the Day of the Dead is officially out, another set of songs has arrived to further up the anticipation.
Following contributions from the likes of the National, Courtney Barnett and the War on Drugs, offerings from another slew of artists have now been made available online.
Unknown Mortal Orchestra have shared a rendition of "Shakedown Street," while Bonnie "Prince" Billy and friends take on "Rubin & Cherise." Charles Bradley has teamed with the Menahan Street Band for "Cumberland Blues," Jim James and friends put their own spin on "Candyman," and Perfume Genius, Sharon Van Etten and friends have come together for a version of "To Lay Me Down."
The 59-track, five-CD Day of the Dead set arrives on May 20 via 4AD, but you can get a little more insight into what's on the way by checking out the aforementioned contributions in the players below.
