Last month, the Sadies collected outtakes, radio performances, demos and more for vinyl-only, career-spanning compilation Archives Vol. 1 Rarities, Oddities and Radio: 1995-2019. Now, the band have made an exception to share one song digitally — which features the Tragically Hip's Gord Downie.

The band have shared their cover the Gun Club's "Goodbye Johnny," with the late Downie handling lead vocals. The cover was recorded live during a performance in Boston, when the artists were touring behind their 2014 collaborative album And the Conquering Sun.

The Sadies will make the track available as a free download through their Bandcamp page for a 12-hour period, from Saturday (April 25) 12 p.m. ET to 12 a.m. ET the following evening.

"It's still very difficult for me to talk about the passing of Gord Downie," Dallas Good wrote in a statement. "We had so many great times together. Here's one of them... He and I selected the songs we covered when performing as the Conquering Sun. The Gun Club is a favourite of mine. Not sure how familiar Gord was. Thing is, nobody can sing like Jeffrey Lee Pierce, but in my opinion, this is the best vocal performance of a Gun Club cover, at least that I've heard. Thanks Gord. Sadie loves you."

As previously reportedArchives Vol. 1 also features collaborations with the Band's Garth Hudson, Rick White of Eric's TripBlue Rodeo's Greg Keelor, Mary Margaret O'Hara and more.

The Sadies teamed with King Khan for a split 7-inch release earlier this year. Their most recent full-length was 2017's Northern Passages.
