A ton of artists are paying tribute to T. Rex on the new Hal Willner-assembled covers record AngelHeaded Hipster: The Songs of Marc Bolan and T.Rex, and among them is Kesha. Today she's shared her take on the T. Rex classic "Children of the Revolution."
The cover has been shared via a new video, directed by Ethan Silverman. It features both Kesha and an orchestra performing the song, as well as some archival footage of Marc Bolan.
"Through a stroke of luck, I met the incredibly talented and kind Hal Willner," Kesha said in a statement. "We were in the same studio and he said he liked my red nudie suit, and then when he mentioned that he was working on a project that involved honouring Marc Bolan, I excitedly started rambling about how much T. Rex has influenced my music and my style. Right there we decided to record our own incarnation of 'Children of the Revolution,' a motherfucker of a song! I'm excited for the world to finally hear it! This project was so exciting and important to the late great Hal, and I'm humbled to be a part of this project honouring one of the most magical artists of the 20th century."

As previously reported, other artists who appear on AngelHeaded Hipster include U2 with Elton John, Father John Misty, Peaches, Joan Jett, Devendra Banhart, Lucinda Williams, Beth Orton, King Khan, Metric's Emily Haines, Perry Farrell, Todd Rundgren and Nick Cave.
AngelHeaded Hipster will arrive on September 4 via BMG.
Willner died in April following COVID-19 complications, making the T. Rex tribute comp his swan song.
