Canadian singer-songwriter Hayden Desser — who rose to fame simply as Hayden — has shared a new song titled "Make Believe" from his forthcoming as-yet-untitled album. Based on a novel titled Black Dove — written by Hayden's friend, Colin McAdam — the song arrives alongside a brand new self-shot video.

Hayden describes his new single as "finding the beauty in truth, the bruised melody acknowledging that as much as we need to stay on the ground and be honest, we will always make things up." Using just his vivid imagination and a green picnic blanket as a backdrop, the artist shot the dreamy black-and-white video at home in isolation.

"It's about the heartache we feel and the magic we crave, living in the real world and wanting to fly above it," he said of the clip in a statement.

Few details about Hayden's forthcoming album have surfaced, though he has been hard at work in the studio with the National's Aaron Dessner, who is producing. So far, the project has no official title or release date.

Hayden's last album was 2015's Hey Love.
