Harald Grosskopf's First Two Albums Get Remastered and Reissued

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jun 11, 2014

Having come up as a krautrock drummer in the '70s and playing with the famed Ashra, Harald Grosskopf has since gone on to have a lengthy career as a solo electronic artist. This summer, a couple of his early albums are being reissued.

Back in 2011, his 1980 debut album Synthesist was lovingly reissued by RVNG Intl. That album will be reissued again on August 22 through Bureau B; on that same day, the label will also reissue the 1986 follow-up Oceanheart. The albums have been remastered, and they will be available digitally, on CD and vinyl.

Synthesist was recorded over the course of two months at a home studio in the West German countryside. The album was initially a commercial disappointment, which led to Grosskopf's label reducing his advance for the follow-up. Oceanheart was then made on a tight budget at a couple of Berlin studios.
