The tracks on Har Mar Superstar's Personal Boy EP were created back in April during a two-day jam session with producers and friends BJ Burton (Bon Iver, Sylvan Esso) and Lazerbeak (Doomtree, Lizzo).

Har Mar has a strong, sincere voice that's vulnerable; he bares his soul here with his heart on his sleeve and touches of lyrical wit. On "Personal Boy," he sets a solid foundation for the standard legendary love song backed by crushed velvet synths, banging drums, a hint of analog trumpet and that quintessential '80s sax sound. "Timeback" brings in a laid-back funk feel with changes throughout that keep the song from becoming dry, and production tweaks that keep it tight. The final track, Afghan Whigs cover "Demon in Profile," continues to serve as a solid vehicle for Har Mar's high-powered vocals. It's fitting — the two acts will tour together this fall.
