Well, here's quite the nostalgia trip for you. One-time Factory Records miscreants Happy Mondays are joining reformed '80s greats the Psychedelic Furs for a joint road trip across North America. Included in the tour schedule is a stop in Toronto on October 14 and one in Montreal on October 15, as well as many more down in the U.S.
As far as any new records go, the Mondays were supposedly following up on 2007's "comeback album," Uncle Dysfunktional and, as previously reported, were to release it early this year. However, as of yet, there is still no sign of any new full-length from Shaun Ryder and his recovering gang of drug fiends.
For the Furs, lead singer Richard Butler previously hinted at a new album from the band "in the not so distant future," according to Wikipedia, but again, so far nothing. Still, it's hard to knock the group's first two albums - 1980's self-titled effort (which featured some production work from Happy Mondays/Joy Division/New Order producer Martin Mannett) and 1981's Talk Talk Talk - and those alone are enough to get us at least a little excited about the possibility of catching them live.
No word yet on if Bez and his maracas will brave the border.
