Hanson Brothers

It's a Living

BY Keith CarmanPublished Jan 20, 2009

The Hanson Brothers can do no wrong, as proven on CD/DVD It's A Living. Recorded live at some Albertan motor inn, the album is a relentless blast of the fun, upbeat, Ramones-inspired three-chord punk rock that they've been blasting out since 1984. From opener "Total Goombah" to "The Hockey Song" and "Sudden Death," these 27 tracks are fast, furious and full of frolic. Bolstered by a flipside DVD featuring the band teaching the finer aspects of brewing beer interspersed with live footage, It's A Living is a great reminder that the Hanson Brothers will never be the Ramones but more importantly, it's NoMeansNo having a good time yet still playing a million times better than any "real" punk band today.
