Montreal singer-songwriter Hanorah is preparing to release her debut full-length album Perennial — due October 14 via Ensoul Records — and today, she's offering a glimpse at what's to come with new single "If Life Were a Movie."

The musician said of the track:

I've been drawn to the beauty and destruction of nostalgia. This song is a space to indulge in the emotionally immature responses human beings sometimes have when things don't work out like we imagine or desire. I sing this song joyfully because I know better now, and hold a lot of affection for the version of me who didn't quite know how to let go.

Produced by Jacques Roy, the album deals with themes of "love, destruction, family, work, mental health, self-sabotage, self-discovery, identity and trauma recovery," and "seeks to water the grass it's standing on."
