Punk rock veteran Handsome Dick Manitoba has been arrested on charges of domestic assault against a former partner. The 64-year-old frontman of New York punk band the Dictators has been arrested for allegedly attacking his ex-girlfriend Zoe Hansen, which whom he shares an apartment.

New York Daily News reports that Manitoba was charged last week on three counts of third-degree assault, plus one count of criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation and one count of second-degree harassment. Hansen told police, "He bit me. He bit my nose. He grabbed my neck and applied pressure."

Manitoba and Hansen were together for 16 years and have a teenage son, but they apparently haven't been in a relationship for a number of years. They co-own the bar Manitoba's in the East Village.

The Dictators formed in 1973 and became a figure in New York's early punk scene. In recent years, Manitoba has hosted a radio show on SiriusXM's Underground Garage, although the show is reportedly on hiatus.

Last decade, he made his mark on the Canadian music industry by suing songwriter Dan Snaith over use of the name Manitoba, resulting in Snaith changing his alias to Caribou.
