Along with all of the annual music festivals that are returning in the coming months, there are yet more new events being launched for the first time. This includes Ontario's Strangewaves Music and Art Festival, the first edition of which will be taking place just outside of Hamilton from August 21 to 23.

Among the acts who will be coming to Rockton Fairgrounds (located 24 km from Hamilton) are Jennifer Castle, Egyptrixx, Phèdre, Jeremy Greenspan (of Junior Boys) Jessy Lanza (with a DJ set), Fiver, WTCHS, TV Freaks, Motëm, Bile Sister, Doom Tickler, Pucumber Family Sasssquash Band, Barbara, Wicked Rot and Ducats. This is just the first wave of acts, so more will be announced.

A press release describes the event like this: "As Hamilton's only camping music festival, Strangewaves will create a family friendly community with a small arts town feel. Live music will be spread across multiple stages and various art installations will create an immersive experience." There will also be local vendors and food-sellers.

Full festival and camping passes are currently available here for an introductory rate of $40. The price will increase as more acts are announced.
