Hamilton Leithauser Announces "Pretty Epic" Live Album with Rostam

The Walkmen leader has also expanded his North American tour with more Canadian dates

Fresh off a collaborative album with former Vampire Weekend-er Rostam — last year's excellent I Had a Dream That You Were Mine — and a subsequent tour, ex-Walkmen frontman Hamilton Leithauser has announced a live album, which will be supported with a fall North American tour.

I Won't Let Up: Live at Music Hall of Williamsburg was recorded at the titular Brooklyn venue in February and will be released as an exclusive with Vinyl Me Please; the LP can only be purchased alongside a ticket to a show on the new tour, which kicks off in October and follows a series of previously announced dates in the U.S. and Europe.

Though Rostam is on the live album, he will sit out on the tour, as he did on the dates earlier this year. The tour just features one Canadian date: Toronto's Danforth Music Hall on October 30. However, before that Leithauser will make appearances at a few Canadian festival, including Montreal's Osheaga on August 4 and another at BC's newly announced Pemberton Music Festival, which will take place from July 13 to 16.

The live album will only be available until May 3 at 10 a.m. EDT, with no word on when purchasers should expect to have the record in their hands.

According to Leithauser in a Facebook statement, "I really think the performances we captured are the band's best to date. It's 'pretty epic' as the lazier kids might say."

No tracklist has been made available, but it's likely to strongly resemble this setlist from their second of two nights at the venue, leaning heavily on the material from I Had a Dream That You Were Mine alongside a few cuts from Leithauser's 2014 solo debut, Black Hours.

While it seems like Leithauser is really milking I Had a Dream, he also revealed that there's new material on the way, to be possibly showcased on the new tour.

He stated, "For the last 10 months I've been writing a batch of new songs…I play all of the instruments myself now…and pretty soon I'm gonna break them out with my rockin' band. They're pretty damned exciting (the songs…and the band too)."
