Last year, Halifax noise fans sadly missed out on the OBEY Convention when organizers decided to postpone the annual experimental event, but this year planners are bringing out the big guns for its return. The fifth instalment of OBEY takes place May 31 to June 3 across the city.

Artists announcements are in the process of being rolled out, but confirmed acts so far include eccentric one-man punk band Bloodshot Bill, Black Dice soundsmith Eric Copeland, acoustic guitar experimentalist Bill Orcutt and weird-pop artist Gary War.

Montreal's Bloodshot Bill kicks off the festivities on May 31 at the Khyber Ballroom, where many of the fest's activities take place. Gary War performs at the Khyber the night after (June 1), along with Random Cuts and London, ON's You'll Never Get to Heaven.

Copeland, meanwhile, will anchor a June 2 performance at the Khyber that will also feature prolific Vancouver noise punks Shearing Pinx. Orcutt will headline the same night over at 1313 Hollis Street.

Other acts set for OBEY include Jerry Granelli, the Pink Noise, Guilt, Crosss, Wolfcow, Strong Boss and Chief Thundercloud, among others.

Art installations and a record fair will also run through the fest. You can find out more info over here.

Passes that will grant you access to all shows can be nabbed over here for $35.
