Halifax's Dark for Dark Reveal Debut Album, Share New Song

BY Alex HudsonPublished May 6, 2013

The title of Dark for Dark's debut LP, Warboats, may imply aggression, but this Halifax-based folk trio's music is of a decidedly gentle — something they will prove when the album arrives May 21.

The group is fronted by singer-guitarist Rebecca Zolkower, who is backed up by Jess Lewis and Mel Stone. They are joined by a cast of contributors who flesh out the harmony-heavy arrangements with mandolin, banjo, piano and french horn.

A press release describes Warboats as "an immaculate folk album from the lofty emotions that loom tall over our daily lives." For a taste of this sound, scroll past the tracklist below to stream the sweetly rustic "Sweetwater."
