For many people out there, this weekend will be a long one. But before you get your summer on good and proper during the holiday, come have a look at what graced our news headlines here at Exclaim.ca the last week.

First off, it was a busy week for Canadian music news, mostly thanks to some biggie new album announcements. Not only did we get word of Wooden Sky's Let's Be Ready, but we had announcements of new records from Meligrove Band, Stars and Mac DeMarco guitar Peter Sagar's Homeshake project.

Also north of the border, Halifax Pop Explosion revealed its initial lineup, while Montreal's Passovah shared its lineup as well.

In other news, Childish Gambino took aim at Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Schoolboy Q and more in a new controversy-sparking freestyle, R. Kelly was dropped from a Ohio festival after some serious public backlash, DIIV's Zachary Cole Smith opened up about his and Sky Ferreira's heroin bust, and Primus reunited their classic lineup for a Willy Wonka-inspired new album.

Finally, Morrissey is getting sued by a former bodyguard after the singer allegedly asked him to "hurt" a superfan and, just so you know, Mastodon's Brent Hinds is carving a massive wooden penis. Just sayin'.
