BY Brock ThiessenPublished Sep 24, 2008

The 16th annual Halifax Pop Explosion has announced its complete line-up, fleshing out and adding to a schedule that already boasted Jay Reatard, GZA, Holy Fuck, Inbreds and Retribution Gospel Choir. Now, from October 21 to 25, more than 140 acts are scheduled to descend on the East coast, performing at 12 venues throughout Halifax and putting that much more pop in the Pop Explosion.

Along with all the musical entertainment, the festival also has readied its third edition of the Music Matters Conference. The event, held on October 24 and 25, will feature speakers such as music industry guru Aram Sinnreich, Thomas Steinle of Tomlab Records and Christian Morin of Headquarter Entertainment, who will all be discussing the realities of making music in a rapidly evolving industry.

Also, on October 23 and 24, the fest will mark its first Halifax Film Explosion. This mini-film festival will kick off with the Halifax music doc 6015 Willow and feature a series of Haligonian-produced short films.
