Half Cut

Behind the Dumpster

BY Sam SutherlandPublished Oct 1, 2003

There’s something incredibly enjoyable about listening to this album. Playing simple poppy punk rock, Half Cut possess an incredibly strong songwriting ability that shines through on their debut EP. Moving from the political punk style of "Kill the 8” to the very emo-sounding "Second Time Around,” Behind the Dumpster showcases the band’s ability to flex its musical and songwriting muscle in a genre where bands quite often box themselves into one corner for their entire career. With a sound that shifts between the driving ferocity of such artists as Strike Anywhere and the more rock-oriented sounds of bands like Liar’s Academy, Half Cut, who have only been making music together for just over a year, seem poised to make a name for themselves in the Canadian punk scene.
