Since releasing Pro Tools in 2008, Wu-Tang legend the GZA has been teasing us with all sorts of promises, from collaborating with the likes of Fucked Up and King Khan to promising a sequel of Liquid Swords. So far, none of that has panned out, but now it's been confirmed that the rapper/producer will remain on the Babygrande label, with plans for a new album in 2012.

AllHipHop confirmed that GZA resigned with Babygrande, who also released Pro Tools. In his lengthy career, GZA's solo records have also come out on Cold Chillin' Records, MCA Records, Geffen Records and Angeles Records.

In a statement, Babygrande founder and CEO Chuck Wilson said, "We have a fantastic relationship with GZA, and we are honored to have the opportunity to continue to work with him."

GZA's upcoming album, which is may or may not be called Liquid Swords 2: The Return of the Shadowboxer, is expected in 2012.

While we don't know if it will feature some of GZA's rumoured past collaborators, the new album will most likely include an appearance from recent backing band Wavves. In a tweet, Wavves' Nathan Williams wrote "just got off the phone with big homie @TheRealGZA . exciting stuff coming soon," to which GZA replied, "@wavveswavves they don't know what's coming. #magicallaboration."
