Gwar's Dave Brockie Died of Heroin Overdose, Autopsy Confirms
This spring, when Gwar frontman Dave Brockie passed away unexpectedly at the age of 50, the police initially didn't announce his cause of death. Now, it's been confirmed that the Canadian-born performer known as Oderus Urungus died of an accidental heroin overdose.

Soon after Brockie passed on March 23 in his home in Richmond, VA, reports began to circulate that the frontman's death was being investigated as drug-related. The latest report from the Virginia Medical Examiner's Office confirms those suspicions.

Brockie co-founded Gwar 30 years ago. It appears that the group will continue on without him in at least some respects, since they are currently fundraising to open their own GWARbar in Richmond.

Since Brockie's death, the surviving members of have formed a charity foundation in the frontman's name. The annual GWAR-B-Q will take place as planned at Hadad's Lake in Richmond, and they're also booked for Riot Fest in Chicago.
