Grounders

"Secret Friend" (video)

In our review of Toronto outfit Grounders' self-titled debut album, we said that opening cut "Secret Friend" took us on "a leisurely jaunt through a cloudy videogame coin haven." Now, we can get a glimpse into this fantastical world thanks to an animated video.

In the clip for this pillowy ambient pop number, we see hand-drawn looking figures drifting in a void of pastel colours, performing sports in a dream-like haze, and disintegrating and re-materializing amidst abstract, kaleidoscopic visual effects. It was animated by the band's own Daniel Busheikin, and a press release aptly describes it as "a hallucinatory mirror of our daily life."
