Groop Dogdrill

Every Six Seconds

BY Kevin Stewart-PankoPublished Aug 2, 2000

The UK press will trumpet any half-baked band that comes along with the ability to string three chords together. This probably explains why Britain's Groop Dogdrill have failed to impact anywhere else, but if you want to make a name for yourself in new and foreign lands, what better way than to rip off a more established act. In this case, the established act is Therapy?, circa Troublegum, the apex of their popularity. Groop Dogdrill not only takes their cues from the post-punk simplicity of Troublegum, but also the fatalistic and sexually edgy themes that Therapy?'s Andy Cairns entertains with are attempted on the likes of "On Me Not In Me," "Low Sperm Count," "Bob 'N' Laura" and "Best Sex in Texas."
