Grizzly Bear

"Yet Again"

Grizzly Bear fans have to wait another month and a half before the Brooklyn troupe's new album Shields hits shelves, but the band have offered up another sneak peek of the album via new tune "Yet Again."

Previously premiered, flamenco-indebted psych pop number "Sleeping Ute" found guitarist Daniel Rossen manning the mic, but this next track has founder Ed Droste gently taking lead vocal duties.

The song starts reasonably airy, with lax guitar strums spaciously spread out above a walking bass line and drum beat. It's not long, though, before the group overwhelm the speakers with multi-layered vocal harmonies, piano plunks, keyboard stabs and a series of extra percussive touches. The lovely tune takes a serious left turn by the track's end, spiralling into spectral six-string noise and a menacing, though still mellifluous, closing melody.

As previously reported, Shields arrives September 18 via Warp, and the band will be on tour throughout the fall to promote it. Canadian stops are schedule for Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver and you can check out the details here.
