Grimes Lashes Out Against the Music Industry's Sexist Double Standards
Grimes takes a DIY approach on her albums and always serves as her own producer. Despite her success, however, she has faced patronizing sexism during her years in the music industry, and now she has hit back again against this unfortunate trend with a string of tweets.

Today (July 17), she wrote a couple of tweets about her new album, which is apparently near completion and might be done as soon as this week. She then complained that, as a female producer, working with an outside engineer results in people shifting the credit away from her.

This led to a subsequent handful of messages about the double standards of the music industry. She admitted that this unfair treatment "fills me with a constant feeling of defeat," and she wrote, "shame on all of u." Read the tweets on the subject at the bottom of this page.

This isn't the first time Grimes has addressed similar issues; she previously wrote about sexism and stereotypes in a Tumblr post a couple of years ago.

Meanwhile, Grimes continues to work on her next album. She previously suggested that it would arrive as a surprise album in October. When it drops, there won't be any doubt as to who deserves full credit.
