Greta Van Fleet are officially back to give us a new album. Called The Battle at Garden's Gate, the band's sophomore effort will arrive on April 16 via Lava/Republic Records. Right now, though, you can hear the record's newly shared single "Age of Machine."
The album follows Greta Van Fleet's hugely successful breakthrough debut, 2018's Anthem of the Peaceful Army, and the upcoming record is described as "bold evolution" from that record. That said, The Battle at Garden's Gate finds the group taking their whirlwind experiences of the last three years to mould them into what ultimately became their new sonic statement.
"We realized that while growing up, we had been shielded by many things, and we were unaware of a lot of things," said drummer Danny Wagner in a press release. "And then we were thrown out into this huge world, and it was a bit of a culture shock at first. But as we started to travel a lot, meet new and different people and experience different cultures, our definition of 'normal' changed."
Bassist Sam Kiszka added: "I suppose that everything has changed except what got us here in the first place. Everything ‚ our perception of the world, perception of life itself, what it means to be an artist, what it means to be part of a beautiful, gorgeous society. We've gained a larger understanding of why we're all here."
