Thanks to the coronavirus, many of us are spending much, much more time at home. That includes Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, but he's opted to do something creative with his time via a new, self-recorded cover.

"I Think We're Alone Now," the hit written by Ritchie Cordell and popularized by Tommy James & the Shondells and Tiffany Darwish, works well as a pop-punk tune. And don't expect some shoddy home recording — this track has full drums and electric guitars.

It's also arrived via a new highly creative video that includes plenty of fun and creative presentations of the lyrics, as well as some archival Green Day photos. Ultimately, the whole package feels more satisfying than the recent new Green Day album.

"While we've all been in quarantine I've been reflecting on the things that matter the most in my life. Family, friends and of course music," Armstrong said in a statement. "I figure if we have to spend this time in isolation at least we can be alone together."
