Published Mar 22, 2010Love them or hate them, long-running Bay Area group Green Day have been responsible for bringing poppy punk rock to at least two generations of teens. Those kids (and adults) will be excited to know that the band have announced a summer North American tour in support of their latest album, last year's 21st Century Breakdown.
The stadium tour kicks off in New Jersey on August 3, and will see the band hit numerous regions of North America before concluding at the start of September. Unfortunately, they won't be hitting much of Canada in their travels, but they will make a Toronto appearance at the Molson Canadian Ampitheatre on August 18. The band will be supported by AFI on all dates.
In related news, Green Day have apparently started the demo process for their next album. Punknews points to an interview with Kerrang where front-man Billie Joe Armstrong said, "We did some demos in Berlin, some in Stockholm, some just outside of Glasgow and some in Amsterdam.... We wanted to get [the new songs] down in some early form."
